TENNESSEE retro

18 - 22 Oct

TENNESSEE retro - fast lives on the decline.

TENNESSEE retro uncovers four rare vintage works by Tennessee Williams. These short masterpieces deliver poignant, witty and raw iterations of his fragmented women and incomplete men. Taken from the writer’s first ever published collection of plays, the works convey an urgent world, subtly framed by a national pre-war American psyche; its need for social conservatism and sameness, its intolerance of difference.

Brought together in quartet, TENNESSEE retro exposes small lives stuck in a tight fix. His homeless misfits struggle against their frailty, their addictions and delusions and yet they rarely lose hope of a very human search for beauty.

TENNESSEE retro features a stellar cast of theatre luminaries and rising stars – Timmie Cameron, Jimmy Hazelwood, Paul Trimmer, Alexander Walker, Christel Chapman, Romy Hooper, Emma Deakin, Miriama McDowell, Donogh Rees and Nicola Kawana.
